Enjoy your delicious stripey goodness. If I were the kind of person who named her craft supplies, I don’t think I could help but dub this “Let Me Call You Sweet Tart.” Not that I’m the kind of person who would do that. Or would secretly think it. Or anything like that.
You can use Socktoberfest to stashbust your sock yarn, to try a new technique or pattern, or even as a jumpstart for holiday knitting. There will be tutorials on many different techniques, some reviews of sock yarns and sock knitting books, as well as interviews with designers, authors, and dyers. Socktoberfest 2005 was loads of fun - lets make 2006 even better!
I’ve still got a phobia about socks, maybe next year.
BleuArts: Free Pattern: The Leia Hat
My inspiration for this pattern came to me one day while shopping in a sporting goods store. I saw this fabulous full length white down coat that reminded me of a Princess Leah outfit. I thought, wow, now that would look great with a knitted ‘wig’ hat. And so, Leia was born.
Finished up felting and sewing my bag. I ran it through 5 wash cycles before sewing it together, then one more after sewing. It’s just big enough for my laptop, phone and iPod. Just hope I don’t have to carry many power cords.
It’s knitted on #10.5 needles with two strands of cascade 220. The pattern called for #13 but the 10.5s were the largest circular needles I had on hand. I think I ended up with more texture which is fine with me.
Pardon the poor photo quality. My regular camera died and I’m stuck using my phone camera.
I’ve been loosley following the pattern for the Satchel featured on Knitty last summer.
I’ve got the bag, strap, and one pocket knit. Just need to do a couple smaller pockets for the phone and iPod and I’ll be ready to felt it. The photo is from Knitty. My camera is broke and it’ll be a week or three before I can replace it.
